The study aimed to investigate the extent to which students in Department of Mathematics at Palestine Technical University -Kadoorie possess mathematical modeling skills and its relationship to their perceptions towards it. The study used the descriptive analytical approach. It was specially prepared to measure the availability of mathematical modeling skills, in addition to a questionnaire to measure the level of their perceptions towards mathematical modeling, the results of the study revealed that the level of mathematical modeling skills was generally medium, with a percentage of (59%). The results also indicated that the level of their perceptions of mathematical modeling was generally high, with a percentage of (80%). Statistically significant differences in mathematical modeling skills and perceptions towards it due to gender, and the presence of statistically significant differences in mathematical modeling skills and perceptions towards it due to the academic level and in favor of fourth-year students, in addition to the presence of a statistically significant correlation between the level of mathematical modeling skills among students of the Department of Mathematics and their perceptions towards it, The study presented a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: highlighting the functional and realistic role of mathematics by including in mathematics courses realistic issues and issues in a variety of contexts to enhance the students' mathematical modeling skills, and directing the university teacher to have a broad and in-depth knowledge of how to apply the steps of mathematical modeling effectively.en_US
