dc.description.abstract | In the twenty first century sustainability has become an important strategy for organizations to meet competitive advantage. The concept of sustainable development from 1980 until now has grown to be the definitions of three pillars namely, social, financial and environmental. Sustainability is the action oriented variant of Sustainable Development. In the literature, there are mixed results regarding identification of the main dimensions of sustainability. As a result, Scholars have identified different models for measuring SP. The main purpose of this chapter is to explain the main concept of sustainability used in the contemporary Operations Management (OM) literature and show how it linked to key OM practices. Additionally, it focuses on explaining how it integrated with the enterprises DNA through the vision and mission and specific values and culture. An identification of the specific unified model for SP that organizations can adopt to measure their performance is further explored in this chapter to add an idea about the different elements and practices enterprises use to align with their sustainability issues. The main contribution of this chapter is elaborated from diverse angles (1) it depicted different models for SP and (2) it introduced the different dimensions for SP compared with different scholars, (3) it introduced new theme of “sustainability DNA” | en_US |
