dc.description.abstract | Microturbinesarearelativelynewdistributedgenerationtechnology.Combinedheatandpower, known ascogeneration,canbeconsideredthemosteconomicalattractiveinvestmentinmicroturbines. Latest technologiesandincreasingenergypricesarepropellingthistechnologytotheforefront.This studyaimstoreviewthecurrentstateofutilizationofmicroturbinesindistributedgenerationasa standalonesystemorwithinahybridsystemtosupplyloads.Itisfoundthatmoreresearchand developmenteffortisneededtoimprovetheperformanceofmicroturbines,integratethemwith other energysourcesandadoptstandardsandregulationstoconnectthemwiththeutilitygrid. Thesestandardsshallbedevelopedtoserveallpartiesandtakeintoaccountregionalandinternational requirements.Furthermore,completemathematicalmodeling,especiallyforfuelconsumptionisstill required.Thedevelopmentofsmallscaleunitswithintherangeofkilowattsforin-houseuseasa backupsourceofresidentialPVsystemisalsoneeded. | en_US |
